Yes, I would say with regard to jewellery, we have a lot of complaints arising from jewellery because, when thieves or robbers come into your house, the first thing they go for are firearms and jewellery, and then people who havent had certificates obtained with regard to the jewellery, they have considerable difficulty then subsequently improving the value of their claim. The mere fact that they valued a ring for R25 000 doesnt mean that that ring is worth that amount, and if you havent got a photograph or a record from a reputable jeweller, youre going to have difficulty in proving the actual value of that jewellery. So my advice would be, get certificates from a reputable jeweller in respect of each item of jewellery that you want to have insured.
